Membership

FirstEnergy Choice Federal Credit Union is a full-service, member owned, not-for-profit organization, dedicated to serving its membership.  The Credit Union was chartered in 1935 and offers a variety of financial services to:

• Employees of FirstEnergy Corp.
• Family members of an existing FirstEnergy Choice Federal Credit Union member
• Immediate family members of a FirstEnergy Corp. employee
• Retirees of FirstEnergy Corp. and their family members
• Retirees of Allegheny Energy, Inc. and their family members

Immediate family is defined as spouse, child, parent, sibling, stepchild, stepparent, grandchild and grandparent.  One great thing about joining a credit union is that once you join, YOUR family is eligible to join, and then THEIR family is eligible to join, and so on.  Everyone is eligible to apply for membership at multiple credit unions.  Apply for FirstEnergy Choice FCU membership today! 

Safety is the first consideration with a Credit Union share account.  Your savings are protected in a number of ways.  Your savings are federally insured to at least $250,000 by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA), an agency of the U.S. Government that also examines the Credit Union.  Also, an annual audit is performed by professional accountants, overseen by the Supervisory Committee.  The committee is made up of four appointed Credit Union members, like yourself.  The Credit Union carries a surety bond that covers against loss by theft, robbery, embezzlement and fraud.  We are also insured against loss by several types of liability and casualty coverages.

Our primary purpose is to promote thrift by affording our members an opportunity to accumulate savings and by providing a source of credit at competitive rates.  In achieving these goals we will strive to maintain our Credit Unions' long term financial stability and growth while continuing our Credit Unions' philosophy of member helping member.
